ABOUT WILLIAM RICHARDS

Boarding Housemaster (Year 7), Assistant Director of Sport, and Teacher of Geography at Cothill House. Semi-professional rugby referee with the RFU and proudly #MadeByDyslexia. Experience of teaching in the UK and Australia. I am a dedicated and ambitious educator with a passion for boarding, geography, and sport. My main aim is to nurture the overall growth and development of my students, focusing particularly on building their character. I achieve this in the classroom through geography, by encouraging students to be creative, globally aware, socially responsible, and curious. Additionally, I believe that education stretches beyond the confines of a classroom. By organising fieldtrips, building a safe and happy boarding environment, and creating sporting opportunities, I aim to further cultivate qualities such as teamwork, confidence, leadership, and a willingness to take risks. In my boarding house, we emphasise respect, kindness, and empathy to foster a strong sense of community among students and staff. Away from teaching I develop these skills myself, none more so than when refereeing and learning to perform under pressure, be reflective of my own performances, and establish positive relationships. In my current role I am the Housemaster/Houseparent to 54 full boarding Year 7s.
