I serve in the Enhanced Incident Management/Unified Command Team. This team instructed the MGT314 Incident Management Unified Command Course that combines technology, instruction, and hands-on functional exercises to create an immersive environment where participants experience what it is like to work as a member of an incident management team responding to a large-scale incident. The course focuses on the pillars of incident management: planning, resource management, information management, and decision- making. Originally designed to respond to a CBRNE incident, the program has evolved into an all-hazards response course to include acts of violence and natural disaster scenarios. A cornerstone of the MGT314 program has been its commitment to maintaining a high level of excellence and relevance in disaster response. This is achieved through the application of instructor experience, lessons learned, and the integration of best practices learned and tested during actual disaster responses. MGT 314 continues to serve as a laboratory where these best practices converge to prepare the next generation of disaster responders.
