ABOUT WILLIAM FITTS

I am an experienced leader in team development, operational excellence, and strategic problem-solving, with over 12 years in engineering leadership roles and an additional 12 years of technical expertise in process engineering in the semiconductor industry. My approach centers on building trust through active listening, empathy, humility, and curiosity, which has allowed me to inspire and empower teams and drive innovation. I believe true leadership is about connecting with people, not just imparting knowledge, and my success stems from understanding and adapting to my team\'s needs. In multiple roles I have initially been the “dummy in the room” and relied extensively on the aforementioned transferable skills to elicit trust and respect from my teams, and as a result was successful in an industry that highly values expertise and immediate results.In my most recent role as an Area Manager at Intel, I led a diverse team of 30+ people, delivering significant operational improvements, mentoring future leaders and staff engineers, and driving a $2M cost savings through a strategic toolset transition. I have a proven track record of improving production efficiency, resolving complex constraints, and fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams. Notably, I spearheaded a six-month task force to resolve a manufacturing constraint, increasing output by 50%, and successfully executed an engineering hiring initiative that added 12 new engineers to the organization.As a Product Engineering Group Lead I successfully drove product ownership, led taskforces that improved wafer yield, and established an FMEA program to eliminate risk and reduce costs. My ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, mentor engineers, and manage high-performing teams has contributed to the success of multiple high-stakes projects.I am passionate about education and training, continuous improvement, LEAN manufacturing, and developing talent in a supportive, growth-focused environment.
