ABOUT WILLIAM MCCORKINDALE
I am currently a Senior Machine Learning Research Scientist at Isomorphic Labs applying machine learning to accelerate drug discovery.Prior to that I was a Senior Scientist at CHARM Therapeutics. Funded by the Gates Scholarship, I completed my PhD under Dr Alpha Lee at the University of Cambridge, researching the application of deep learning for modelling chemical reactions, bioactivity, and structure-based virtual screening. During the PhD, I also interned as a Research Scientist at Google DeepMind working on extending the capabilities of AlphaFold.I did Natural Sciences specialising in Physics during my undergrad at St. John\'s College, University of Cambridge. I ran the Cambridge University Physics Society (CUPS) as well as organising an undergrad interdisciplinary science conference called IN[SCI]TE. I spent summers doing research at the University of Hong Kong, the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, and Caltech via the CamSURF programme. I played trumpet in orchestras and jazz/brass bands, and dabbled in pistol shooting as well as judo.
