Most companies have no idea what they are actually buying from their vendors. This happens because the executives making strategic decisions and the teams managing the contracts rarely intersect. I have the last 15 years operating within that gap. My background spans finance, logistics, and supply chain at DHL and Deutsche Telekom, culminating in my current work managing Global IT and Telecommunications Procurement at Brenntag.The fundamental issue repeats across every sector. The most costly inefficiencies are usually the ones nobody is actively monitoring, often obscured by the sheer volume of enterprise agreements. My primary function within a DAX 40 organization is ensuring that corporate strategy directly translates into operational reality. By applying this scrutiny to a spend portfolio involving multi vendor environment, it drives real savings and reduces procurement cycle times by half.I also write Margin of Error, a project where I analyze how geopolitics, macroeconomic trends, and supply chain shocks practically impact the businesses attempting to function within them.
