ABOUT WILLIAM HARRELL

William W. Harrell is entering his 4th year as a Physical Education teacher/Head Football Coach of Johnson (Gainesville) High School and his 2nd year as the Head Track and Field Coach. Harrell was awarded the 20••••21 Greater Hall County FCA Male Coach of The Year.Harrell most recently served as a Physical Education teacher and Varsity Head Football Coach at Hephzibah High School. During his 5-year tenure, Harrell amassed 22 wins, which is 4th All-Time in school history. His 19 wins from 2017 to 2019 are the most wins in school history over a 3-year period. Harrell went 7-3 this past season, winning the most games in a 2-year span in school history. He also led the Rebels to the 1st Round of the Playoffs for the 2nd year in a row; only the 2nd time in school history over a 66-year span. In 2018, Hephzibah became the Region Runner-Up for the first time since 2008; also only the 2nd time they hosted a Playoff game at Home (2008). Hephzibah has had 3 players be selected for the 2020 Border Bowl, 3 players in the 2019 Border Bowl, 3 players selected for 2018 All-State, 3 players selected for 2018 All-Area, 3 players selected for 2018 All-CSRA, and 14 players selected for 2018 Region 4-AA All-Region. Harrell was awarded the 2018 All-Area Coach of the Year and the 2018 Region 4-AA Coach of the Year, as well as the 2017 Region Coach of the Year by The Augusta Chronicle. 14 former players have signed scholarships to play College sports.Harrell previously served as the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and Outside Linebackers Coach at Macon County High School in 2014 under current Brunswick High School Head Football Coach Larry Harold, where the team went 9-3, won the 4-AA Region title for the first time since 2007, and advanced to the 2nd Round of the playoffs; the first time since 2009. Harrell trained 7 players who have signed scholarships. This group of players include Roquan Smith, who signed with University of Georgia as the #1 Outside Linebacker in the country, and Jerquez Hughley, who signed with the Air Force Academy. Harrell also served as the Head Track Coach for the 2015 season and the Assistant Track Coach for the 2014 season, leading 4 players to the GHSA State Championship over the course of two years.Before coaching in Montezuma, Harrell served as an Assistant Coach at Hephzibah High School from 20••••13 in various roles ranging from Junior Varsity Assistant to Defensive Coordinator. Harrell also had previous coaching experience in Butler and Portal High School.William has 2 children; Aaron, 13, and Evan, 9.
