ABOUT WILLIAM GRAHAM

Criminologist | sSenior Lecturer | Violence Reduction Expert | Higher Education LeaderI am a criminologist with a PhD in Criminal Justice and Policy Transfer (Glasgow Caledonian University, 2016) and a deep background in both academic research and front-line practice. Currently, I lecture in Criminology and Policing at Abertay University and contribute to national research agendas through memberships in the Scottish Institute for Policing Research and the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research.My work focuses on police studies and gang-related violence, combining academic insight with practical experience. I have led and supported major violence reduction initiatives, including serving as Deputy Project Manager for the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV) in Glasgow, and delivering a public health-based gangs intervention in Enfield, London. I also consult with Northamptonshire Police on their CIRV implementation and support national evaluations of focused deterrence strategies for the Youth Endowment Fund.Alongside my research and consultancy, I serve as Head of Teaching Quality and Learning Enhancement within Abertay University’s International Recruitment and Partnerships Office. In this role, I ensure academic quality and pedagogical excellence across our global partner programmes.Key skills: Violence reduction strategies, police-community partnerships, teaching and learning enhancement, strategic leadership, negotiation, coaching, and emergency management.
