About William Gonzalez
As a first-generation graduate of the University of Georgia, I earned a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in International Affairs, along with minors in Criminal Justice Studies and Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. My academic and professional journey has focused on the intersections of security, criminal justice, and international policy, with a particular interest in Latin America and the ways institutions respond to violence, governance challenges, and human rights concerns.I now serve as a Program Assistant with The Carter Center’s Latin America Rule of Law Program, where I support initiatives that strengthen democratic institutions, promote accountability, and advance justice for communities that are often overlooked. This role builds on my research experience in criminal governance and democratic resilience, as well as my long-standing commitment to human rights and public service.Alongside this work, I have developed a strong passion for political communications, which has taught me the importance of shaping narratives, connecting with diverse audiences, and uplifting voices that have historically been excluded from policymaking spaces. Through campaign experience, research roles, and editorial leadership, I have seen how strategic and thoughtful communication can drive engagement, influence policy, and create meaningful change.I am always open to connecting with individuals, organizations, and campaigns that share a commitment to justice, democracy, and global security. I look forward to contributing my skills, curiosity, and dedication to building a more equitable and inclusive future at home and around the world.
