About William Garneau
As an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins Medicine, I combine my clinical and research skills to advance the understanding and treatment of emerging infectious diseases especially the use of novel clinical treatments and diagnostics. I am passionate about applying precision medicine and healthcare technology to improve patient outcomes and public health.I hold a MD degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and a MPH degree from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, where I developed my interest and expertise in epidemiology and global health. I also have a BA degree in English from Yale University, which honed my communication and writing skills. I completed my internal medicine residency at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where I joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2020.Some of my recent achievements include leading a multi-center study on the genomic and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 patients, co-authoring multiple peer-reviewed publications on COVID-19 and precision medicine, and receiving a career development award from the National Institutes of Health to develop my experience with programming, data science related to emerging infectious disease diagnosis and management. I am also involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents, and collaborating with other researchers and clinicians across disciplines and institutions.
