About Will F.

Hi! My name is Will Fahnestock and I recently graduated Cum Laude from Miami University’s College of Engineering and Computing with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. As I begin the next phase of my life, I have started to consider the impact I want to have on the world. I chose to pursue the field of engineering because I value working in groups to accomplish meaningful goals, as well as technical problem solving. While working in groups I can fill the role of a leader and take charge when I am confident in a particular area or ask for guidance when I know someone else has a greater expertise. As I’ve progressed in my engineering education, I have found myself drawn to both the automotive and aviation/aerospace industries. Transportation, whether it be a few blocks to school or an international flight, is such an integral part of everyone\'s life. With safety and environmental concerns at the forefront of the transportation industry, I want to be a part of improving current technology for the benefit of the world. Fortunately, I was given an amazing introduction to the aerospace industry with a position at GE Aerospace as an Inspection Engineering Intern. In my time working with them I have learned extensively about jet engine assembly & design, non-destructive evaluation (NDE) techniques, and cleaner air travel. I am excited to be able to apply the knowledge I’ve accumulated from my engineering courses and internship experience to my current role at GE Aerospace in the Manufacturing Engineering Development Program.
