Manages the policies, procedures, and workflows for cataloging, database maintenance, TMS, and non-MARC metadata creation within the library - As one of three chief original catalogers, creates high quality descriptive and technical metadata in both MARC and non-MARC formats for both physical and digital collections; catalogs research materials in all formats according to national standards - Works closely with Systems, Digital Collections, Special Collections, and staff across the Museum to help establish metadata policies and procedures for digital projects - Trains and mentors library staff and interns in all cataloging and technical services processes, and directly manages two full-time library staff - Collects and participates in the assessment of system-generated statistics and management reports, providing analytics reports both internally and as needed for staff presenting on the library\'s web presence - Contributes and updates NACO records and coordinates linked data initiatives that involve NACO records, including bulk export, edit, and loading of MARC and non-MARC records - Creates and monitors the creation of BIBCO, NACO, and SACO records in collaboration with the Principal Resource Description Librarian - Responsible for creating and maintaining library web pages and its blog on The Met’s website using Sitecore - Works collaboratively with library staff to regularly assess procedures and develop strategies to streamline workflows - Manages the Library’s social media initiatives, including the blog, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Wikipedia - Collaborates with library staff and vendors to identify, format, and coordinate the batch loading of vendor-supplied records into the online catalog - Selects and orders research material in physical and digital format for Watson Library - Monitors trends in e-book publishing and selects e-books appropriate for the collection
