About Will Liu

I am a recent graduate from Wake Forest University with a major in Anthropology and minor in Mathematics. I am a Student Member of The Explorers Club who\'s exploration interest includes the relationship between people and tea in tea producing countries and societies from a 3rd culture and anthropological perspective. I am passionate about the world of tea and re-introducing the culture and perspective of Chinese loose-leaf teas in the modern world. Tea is an extension of who I am– from the botanical, anthropological, and cultural aspects they all contribute to my identity as a 3rd culture. My main research interest involves the investigation of the intersection of American culture and Chinese tea culture by ethnographically examining artisanal teashops promoting gongfu tea culture. My mission is to illuminate interest for artisanal tea and facilitate meaningful conversations around tea.

   Hosting gongfu tea sessions on campus with students at Wake Forest University to introduce more people to the world of artisanal and loose-leaf teas\\\\n- Planning for events and inviting guest speakers to promote tea culture\\\\n- Demonstrating that the world of tea exceeds far beyond just tea bags with tea practices from different cultures such as China, Iran, Russia, Japan, South America etc.\\\\n- Facilitating conversations that is meaningful to one\'s experience on campus
