ABOUT WILL BENSON
My passion is and always will be the Amusement Industry. Creating memories through parks and attractions is an integral part of my DNA. I am so appreciative that my career has lead me to two of the leading storytellers in the world – Disney and Universal. Through my time with each company, I have been able to develop skills that make me an asset to this industry. In my time with Walt Disney Imagineering, I gained fundamental experience with the project cycle and engineering design. I studied and developed drawings, collected analytical data from a multitude of different ride types, and even traveled abroad to test the final quality of the Ropes Course in Shanghai Disney. Before my time with the company ended, I combined all skills I had acquired up that point to play a prominent role as Lead Ride Mechanical Engineer in the commissioning of Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout. As I transitioned to Universal Creative, I oversaw nearly the entire project cycle of two different ride system contracts for the Universal Beijing Resort. I managed all aspects of the project, including schedule and budgetary requirements, engineering review and correction, and scenic development. Through previously developed project skills, I was able to review and correct multi-discipline issues that were present along multiple points in the project, which ranged from Creative details to Controls logic to Safety-related engineering choices. My final project with Universal Creative was in a key Show role for Epic Universe. I oversaw the full project cycle of over 100 animation assets across roughly 30 control systems.Although I am between roles currently, I have been using this time to identify how my experience allows me to be an asset for any company. I believe I have 4 traits that would be useful for any company in this industry-Managing large data sets. It is important to understand holistically every status of every component, from life cycle to troubleshooting efforts-Forward thinking approach. It is never just about the here and now, but is about how the company continually evolves its way of thinking regarding both the components and the processes-Cross-discipline communication. I am able to code swap between various technical and non-technical language to suite the stakeholders-Tenacity and accountability. My goal is to drive toward our common vision. We must get there together and I hold myself and my team to the highest standards to ensure we meet what is necessary
