About Will McCumber
Most programs don\'t stall because people aren\'t working hard enough. They stall because the work is in the wrong order, the decisions aren\'t visible, or nobody\'s made it easy for stakeholders to say yes to the next step. That\'s the part I\'m good at. I\'m a Project Manager at Envision Healthcare, where I lead a $2M+ physician compensation platform modernization, replacing 20 years of legacy logic with standardized, automated workflows across Emergency Medicine and Hospital Medicine. Before that, I managed a $3M annual physician gainshare program serving 1,200+ members and cut a credentialing onboarding pipeline from 90+ days to roughly 45 by making invisible work visible. The pattern across my work: translate ambiguity into a plan people can execute, build a cadence that forces progress, and design for adoption, not just delivery. I\'m pursuing my MBA at the Kelley School of Business (expected 2027) to sharpen the strategy and operations thinking behind the programs I run. Coursework in competitive analysis, digital transformation, and organizational design is shaping how I approach portfolio-level decisions, not just project-level ones. Before healthcare, I designed and launched Hyalus Altum, a dive watch I took from sketch to Kickstarter-funded product in 18 months. Different industry, same discipline: specs as deliverables, no playbook, ship anyway. Open to program management, operations, and strategy roles where delivery and stakeholder trust are the product. Experience
Project Manager
May 2024 — Present
Leading a $2M+ physician compensation platform modernization, replacing a 20-year legacy system with standardized, automated workflows across Emergency Medicine and Hospital Medicine- Resequenced program delivery after identifying that hourly pay logic (built site-by-site over two decades) was the wrong starting point. Shifted to an RVU-first approach that unlocked a transparency pilot across 10 sites and 300 physicians, earning buy-in from clinical leadership- Aligned 5+ cross-functional teams (HRIS, IT, Compensation, Contracts, vendors) around a shared roadmap, replacing siloed handoffs with structured decision points and a single program cadence- Recovered a ~2-month timeline slip on a BI dashboard implementation by resetting scope and stakeholder expectations transparently. Built the vendor security review framework that became the standard for all future vendor integrations- Surfaced hidden complexity in shift differential pay logic that the organization hadn\'t recognized, triggering an executive-led compensation strategy reform.
