Encompassing two parts, the role is responsible for the end-to-end Cambridge site-lead responsibility of developing Rabbit Monoclonal antibodies, from discovery to validation and secondly as a global leader of validation and quality for all Abcam products within the R&D function, at all sites. As such, I directly manage 80+ employees, across multiple teams, including antibody discovery, protein science, validation, cell engineering, conjugation and product quality as well as ethics. Whilst within the role of global validation lead, I have dotted line management for a further 100+ employees globally, including China and East coast US sites. This role also incorporates the scientific aspects for complaints investigations, where we have a small team of scientists performing root cause analysis for multiple ongoing complaints as well as ISO13485 compliance of IVD-regulated products in the Pathology market. I report directly to the SVP R&D and am part of the R&D Senior Leadership Team.

A highly motivated senior manager with experience in establishing and running large teams in both academia, large pharma and biotech and with the ability to turnaround established teams into more effective units. With a focus on quality, I am a well-regarded leader in validation and application techniques, particularly in immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridisation and digital pathology with many publications and presentations. My ultimate motivation is to improve the quality of scientific discoveries, whether through the use of quality reagents or through scientific research.
