As a Financial Center of Excellence (FCOE) Intern in the Clause Accounting team within the Florida Power & Light division of NextEra Energy, I supported the tracking, analysis, and regulatory reporting of cost recovery clauses, including fuel, capacity, and environmental compliance. My responsibilities included preparing journal entries, assisting with monthly close processes, and reconciling regulatory accounts to ensure compliance with Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) guidelines. I also contributed to variance analysis and supported the preparation of filings and audit schedules. I led the creation of an AI project in which assistants were designed to create testimonies to be filed with the FPSC. Through this experience, I gained exposure to utility regulation, financial reporting, and energy cost management in a leading clean energy company.
