ABOUT WILL BELONGIA

How to deliver capital into the hands of risk taking entrepreneurs who can make real change within our Vermont economy has been my focus for 30 years. The Vermont Community Loan Fund (VCLF) is a dynamic nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that works to accomplish this goal. We focus on businesses and programs that help lower-income Vermonters access safe, affordable homes, quality jobs, child care and essential community services. Since making our first loan back in the spring of 1988, the Loan Fund has made over 1300 distinct loans totaling over $150 million that created or retained jobs for 8,500 Vermonters, child care slots for 5,500 children, built or rehabilitated 5,500 affordable homes and financed community organizations serving hundreds of thousands of Vermonters. VCLF also provides an investment opportunity for Vermonters who want to have a social and local impact with their money. Over investors have lent VCLF $35 million in capital. These investors provide the fuel for our loan programs and in return receive a financial return and know that their money is having real impact in Vermont.
