   As Data Engineering Manager for GM Motorsports (GMMS), I lead a cross-functional team of data engineers building the next generation of data, analytics, and telemetry platforms that power General Motors’ global racing programs — including F1, IndyCar, IMSA, and NASCAR.Our mission is to transform how motorsports data is captured, modeled, and consumed, enabling engineers, strategists, and performance analysts to make faster, smarter, and more data-driven decisions both trackside and in simulation.Key Highlights:Established GM Motorsports’ modern data platform using Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Terraform-based IaC to unify telemetry, simulation, and race-event data across series.Architected and deployed real-time ingestion pipelines leveraging AWS MSK (Kafka), Flink, and Python microservices to process high-velocity timing, telemetry, and sensor data from partners such as Al Kamel and Alkamel Live Timing.Led data governance and master data management (MDM) efforts across teams, implementing hierarchical tagging, access controls, and lineage tracking to ensure consistency and compliance across racing divisions.Partnered with simulation, vehicle dynamics, and performance engineering teams to design APIs and analytical data models supporting advanced simulation, AI-driven strategy, and digital twin capabilities.Drove alignment between race engineering and enterprise IT by introducing DevOps and observability standards for motorsports workloads, increasing reliability and reducing cycle time for analytics delivery.Built a new data engineering organization from the ground up, mentoring engineers and establishing a culture of ownership, speed, and technical excellence in one of GM’s most exciting and fast-moving domains.At its core, my work bridges data, engineering, and competition — transforming telemetry into performance insight, and analytics into advantage.
