As a fully-certified ski instructor at an industry-leading resort, I work among the top tier of ski professionals nationwide. In this client-facing role, I collaborate with guests to learn their goals and tailor lessons anchored in skiing fundamentals to support their objectives.After moving to Utah from NYC, I learned to ski as an adult. Seeking a new challenge after completing my PhD, I saw ski instruction and certification as a great way to fulfill my need for continuous, high-level learning while getting up to speed in my new surroundings. I also wanted to share my empathy and measured teaching approach with those who might experience barriers to progress in this mentally and physically challenging sport.In my 4 seasons at Deer Valley I have:• Achieved full instructor certification, including 7 exams comprising 8 full days of assessment, an accomplishment attained by approximately 10% of a field of professionals.• Consistently exceeded performance targets in all 4 annual reviews, contributing to strong Net Promoter Scores (NPS); earned annual promotions and was selected for the training cohort in the fourth season - just 4% of a 650-member staff.• Trained and supported 8 colleagues to pass certification exams in the 20••••25 season, with an over 50% success rate, aligned to industry standards.
