I represent the FTC in actions against companies for potential violations of federal consumer protection laws, particularly in connection with consumer privacy, credit reporting, and data security issues. I carry out all stages of regulatory investigations, from determining the scope of discovery requests and negotiating with targets about e-discovery to taking witness testimony under oath, drafting federal court complaints, and negotiating order language to prevent further violations of the law. My work has included investigating potential violations of Section 5 of the FTC Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, GLBA and the FTC\'s Safeguards Rule, the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, and other federal consumer protection requirements.My role frequently allows me to collaborate with technologists, economists, and regulators from other agencies. I’ve also spoken to audiences on a variety of consumer protection topics including privacy, data security, and the FCRA.
