Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding research to develop reliable and effective treatments for spinal cord injury. Every day, three people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following a traumatic injury to their spinal cord. Paralysis means more than not being able to walk – it also affects other vital functions such as bladder and bowel control, blood pressure, breathing. Spinal Research raises money to fund research into clinical treatments as well as vital basic science research. We fund projects across the UK, and internationally, developed by leading neuroscientists in the field. My house mate at Loughborough University broke his neck playing rugby and we continue to raise money in his memory and to help others in similar situations to the one Dan found himself in.
