About Wess Gates
Primary experience in mathematical modeling and simulation of electromechanical engineering systems and extensive hardware/software design and applications. Primary areas of expertise in embedded system design, firmware development, analog and digital systems, schematic capture, printed circuit board layout, component selection, sensors, actuators, verification and validation against test and simulation data and models. Atmel 8/32 bit, Cypress PSOC, and other ARM cores used in developing clean sheet analog and digital control design solutions ranging across the aerospace, wind energy, biomedical, industrial, and consumer electronics markets. Additional experience with mechanical design and manufacturing including both CAD and CAM in detail, part, and assembly design. Experience with 3 axis milling, PCB milling and other subtractive and additive manufacturing methods for mold and tooling design. A highly successful track record of over twelve years of systems engineering, integration, and architecting experience used for developing practical and applied solutions from among the most difficult engineering challenges. A traceable history of leading interdisciplinary engineering, science projects, and teams backed by a detail oriented engineering portfolio. I take a problem from an idea to a workable and elegant engineering judgement that is timely, safe, and cost effective. I believe that my engineering skills and experience allow me to jump into new and unfamiliar areas of engineering with confidence and readiness to acquire new skills. My performance thrives when asked to confront the unknown and unsolvable.
