Delivering an interactive academic session on international human rights systems and global governance for the Oxford Scholars Programme, an international summer school at Oxford University for students aged 14–18.The session explores how international organisations, governments, and civil society interact in global decision-making, combining real-world case studies with interactive simulations and discussions.In addition to the lecture, contributing to the design of the programme’s London institutional visits, introducing students to key organisations involved in policy, governance, and international affairs.

ABOUT WESSAM WESSAM FARID ELSAYED

Human rights and global affairs professional with a focus on international governance, multilateral policy processes, and the practical implementation of global frameworks. My work explores how international institutions, governments, and civil society actors interact to shape policy outcomes and advance human rights standards.I previously served as a representative of Maat for Peace Development and Human Rights to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), where I engaged with international discussions related to UN conventions, global policy frameworks, and multilateral cooperation. My work included contributing to research, monitoring, and analysis related to the implementation of international human rights mechanisms and UNODC processes.Alongside my policy and research interests, I contribute to initiatives that promote youth engagement in global affairs. I currently serve as Programme Coordinator with Girls in Diplomacy, supporting programmes that equip young women with the knowledge, networks, and leadership skills needed to engage in diplomacy and international policy spaces.I also lecture with the Oxford Scholars Programme, delivering interactive sessions on international human rights systems, global governance, and pathways into careers in international affairs. My teaching focuses on translating complex global policy processes into accessible insights for emerging leaders.I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Cairo University. My professional interests include international human rights mechanisms, global governance, diplomacy, and policy research, particularly the ways in which international institutions translate principles into real-world policy and practice.
