ABOUT WESLEY NOBLETT

In my first life, I studied Biological Sciences at North Carolina State University, with plans to attend dental school. After interning for a year at a dental practice, I learned that dentistry was not the right fit for me. I shifted gears and began working in the hospitality industry, quickly rising through the ranks. Through this experience, I learned valuable soft skills and human skills that have proven very beneficial in my accounting and finance career. While working hard to advance to the corporate side of the business, I learned that my values no longer aligned with the company. Around the same time (in 2013), I learned that my youngest brother was suffering from kidney failure. I moved back to Charlotte, NC (my hometown) in an attempt to be his kidney donor. Being back home, I decided to pursue degrees at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. This time, I chose an area that clicked with me. numbers. In December 2015, I obtained degrees in Accounting, Finance, and Business Management; graduating Summa Cum Laude in all three disciplines. While working full time at Duke, in the Finance & Accounting Rotation Program, I decided to pursue my Masters of Accountancy from UNC Charlotte. I graduated with my MACC in 2019. With a constant drive to learn, I decided I wanted to learn more about the business side of things. Thus, in 2020, I began working towards my MBA at UNC Charlotte. I am currently a Lead Financial Analyst at Duke Energy, in Customer Delivery Carolinas Finance. In this role, I provide financial reporting and support for the Customer Delivery organization, the team responsible for powering our lives and future!
