ABOUT WENDY A. GROSSMAN
Art and photo historian, curator, and author with expertise in modern and contemporary photography, early twentieth-century European and American Modernisms, the intersections between non-Western and Western art, Surrealism, and the artist Man Ray. Extensive teaching, writing & editing, and international speaking experience. Numerous publications include the award winning Man Ray, African Art, and the Modernist Lens, the catalogue accompanying the 20••••11 traveling exhibition. Current book project:\"Seeing \'Ady\': Adrienne Fidelin, Man Ray, and the Recovery of a Black Surrealist Muse. Co-authored with Sala Patterson. This book and potential exhibition recuperates the story of the Guadeloupean dancer Adrienne Fidelin (19••••04), who, as lover, model, and muse to artist Man Ray in Paris from 1936 to 1940, appeared in numerous photographs alongside some of the most intriguing members of the international avant-garde.
