ABOUT WENDY STANDEFFER RIGGS

Over a 40-year career, I have led the effort to build a $145 Million performing arts complex with multiple venues, managed over 200 employees and the operations of a 75-year old historic theatre, and taught and directed arts education programs on the college and community level. Since gaining my MFA in Theatre Management/Arts Administration, I have been responsible for multimillion-dollar budgets and led fundraising efforts that brought in tens of millions of dollars. My years of operational experience have allowed me to lead teams in all aspects of design, planning and operating for performing arts’ centers, amphitheaters, and multi-use venues. as I have worked as a consultant, I was also a venue leader working in this industry. This operational experience has provided specialized knowledge of the realities of how a venue operates and what it needs to be effective in that operation. In my construction oversight and contracting experience, I have overseen restorations, renovations and new construction from visioning and inception of schematic design, value engineering to completion of construction and operations of the venue. I have extensive experience in non-profit operations including legal issues in arts administration, principles and practices in for profit and non-profit arts institutions, marketing, promotions, board relations, labor and employee relations, fundraising, and financial management.
