ABOUT WENDY PETER
I am a Professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota. I received my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, where I also completed a fellowship in adult medicine. I served as a clinical practitioner at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for several years where I provided medication therapy management in dialysis and chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. My career has been focused on improving medication management and drug safety in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). My current research interests include medication management and policy in dialysis and CKD patients, slowing progression of CKD and treatment of CKD symptoms. I conduct pharmacoepidemiology and health economic and outcomes research using Medicare, commercial datasets and electronic health record data. I am an investigator with the United States Renal Data System (USRDS) and Chronic Disease Research Group. I have served on several national technical expert panels for medication-related safety and quality measurement. I served on the Board of Directors of the Kidney Health Initiative, the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Scientific Advisory Board and the NKF-American Society of Nephrology (ASN) Taskforce on Reassessing the Inclusion of Race in Diagnosing Kidney Diseases. I\'ve been honored to receive fellowship status from the ASN, American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the NKF. Currently, I am leading a national non-profit initiative on Advancing American Kidney Health through Optimal Medication Management
