About Wendy McDaniels
When I was a teenager, I\'d reinvest my babysitting money into new supplies and workbooks for the kids. I loved everything about helping them learn and watching their faces light up. Fast forward a few years later when a Fortune 500 Company offered me a role as an Instructional Designer. I was in heaven and felt as if the stars had aligned. I was doing something I loved. I used my analytical superpowers to create courses that were equal parts pretty, engaging, and practical. I collaborated with business analysts, end users, and trainers to gain different perspectives. I became proficient in Articulate Storyline, lean project management, and applied change management principles to prepare the business for change. With 12 years of experience under my belt, it was time for a change. I made the move from the Pacific Northwest to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I used what I learned in Corporate America and began working from home as a Freelance Instructional Designer and as a Squarespace Web Designer. I not only traded my Jimmy Choos for flip flops, I was absorbing a new language, new culture, and refining my skills. Then I got hungry, like really hungry. Cabo was paradise with the exception of one thing; they didn’t have any donuts. So I did what any practical person would do and opened my own shop. In becoming a small business owner, I learned how it feels to put your \"baby\" in the hands of your employees. I added leadership to my portfolio. Today you’ll find me building courses, managing projects, and creating some very user-friendly websites, all while taste testing new flavors at the donut shop. In addition to offering freelance marketing, I opened Dare to Dough, a consulting business that helps other bakery and coffee shop owners. And that’s the tale of how a babysitter turned into Instructional Designer and eventual donut shop owner.
