About Wei Liu
I am a scientist and leader using Computational Biology and Human Genetics to drive decision-makings in Biotech and Pharma. I am experienced in Drug Discovery and Translational Research in Cancer, Immunology & Inflammation, Metabolism, and Genetic Diseases from my 15+ years career at fast-paced biotechs HotSpot Therapeutics and Agios Pharmaceuticals, and prior 10 years of R&D at Genetics Institute / Wyeth / Pfizer. As an early Agios employee, I have built from the ground up, and I led the growth and evolving of, Agios Data Science function responsible for Agios’ Computational Biology, Computational Genetics, and Research Infrastructure to support Discovery, Development, and Translational research. Our work included new disease, new target & patient responder ID, pathway & MOA studies, prognosis & resistance mechanisms, Clinical Biomarker and Translational Genomics studies, and Agios sample, data & knowledge management. My group supported the Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, DMPK and Translational activities of Agios approved drug IDH2m inhibitor Enasidenib (Idhifa®), IDH1m inhibitor Ivosidenib (Tibsovo®), PKR activator Mitapivat (Pyrukynd®) and other clinical stage assets such as AG-881 (Vorasidenib), AG-270 (MAT2a inhibitor), AG-946 (PK activator), and many in-the-pipeline targets and compounds.Specialties: Cancer, Immune-Oncology, Metabolism, Genetic Diseases. Computational Genetics and Computational Biology, Cloud computing, AI, RWE, data-mining, text-mining and network analyses.
