I currently work at FlashAcademy, an educational platform integrated with schools across the UK and beyond, focused on English language learning.I joined the company as a Middle Full-Stack Engineer and was promoted to Lead Full-Stack Engineer within a year. I lead a team responsible for maintaining and modernizing key parts of the platform:A legacy teacher-facing platform built with PHP (Yii2).An internal admin panel developed with Laravel.The API that powers the mobile application, based on Laravel and MongoDB.Migration to a Modern StackWe’ve started rewriting the legacy teacher platform using a modern stack:Frontend: React, Redux Toolkit (RTK Query), Turborepo, with Radix UI and custom styles.Backend: An upgraded Laravel-based service using PHP 8.3, allowing us to leverage new language features.The new API module is built with a clean architecture approach, leveraging design patterns such as Repository, Dependency Injection, and others. It is fully covered by tests and strictly adheres to coding standards and style guides.DevOpsPreviously, our services ran directly on AWS EC2 instances without containerization. I introduced Docker configurations for all projects, simplifying local development and paving the way for Kubernetes deployment.Today, our entire deployment process is fully automated:On pull request: code is validated, linters and tests run automatically.Docker images are built and deployed to staging/production via Kubernetes.We actively use AI tools for automating routine tasks, code review, and even automated student test evaluations (powered by a custom Python-based AI service).I use Cursor + VSCode with GitHub Copilot for React development, and PHPStorm + Copilot for PHP.I’m part of a highly skilled and collaborative team — we regularly share knowledge, discuss tech trends, and make architecture decisions together.I truly enjoy mentoring my teammates and helping them solve complex technical challenges.
