About Trevor Birchett

I\'m the Chief Meteorologist at ABC24 in Memphis, and I couldn\'t be more thrilled to be back in my hometown to serve the communities of the Mid-South. Growing up in the Southeast, I am most passionate about severe weather, but have experience covering just about anything that Mother Nature can throw our way. In the last several years, I have led coverage of dozens of severe weather outbreaks, winter weather episodes, and serious flooding threats. I have earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society.I\'m experienced in modernizing weather presentation, including expanding coverage on CTV/OTT and social platforms to reach the next generation of consumers. I also have interests and experience in aviation weather and decision support forecasting.I was born and raised in Southaven, Mississippi, a suburb of Memphis, so I\'m no stranger to extreme weather. In fact, an EF-2 tornado nearly hit my house in 2008, which sparked my interest in weather. I\'m a graduate of Mississippi State University, where I got my B.S. degree in Geosciences. My concentrations were in professional and broadcast meteorology and I also obtained a minor in broadcasting. During my time at Mississippi State, I worked part-time as the weekend meteorologist for WCBI-TV, the CBS affiliate for North Mississippi and West Alabama.
