Willy Martinez is a public policy attorney focused on U.S. state privacy, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technology issues. Prior to Mariner Strategies, he worked at a national law firm representing multinational clients on global privacy compliance, cybersecurity incident response, and privacy litigation. That experience grounds his policy work in how privacy laws are implemented and enforced in practice, allowing him to advocate for frameworks that deliver strong and meaningful consumer protections while remaining clear, durable, and enforceable for businesses operating across the country.Willy holds multiple certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, including Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP), and is an active participant in the privacy and AI policy community, speaking on panels hosted by the Network Advertising Initiative, the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce, and the New Mexico AI Summit. He lives in New Jersey with his husband and, when not engaged in policymaking, can usually be found baking (drawing on his pastry school days), building LEGO sets, or lost in the pages of a very long fantasy book.
