About William Carmichael
As a Corporate Trainer and University Educator, my focus is on aligning training\'s role to the organization\'s goals and objectives. In doing so, a return on investment is insured by employee engagement in the learning process, creative instructional methods, and dynamic instruction. Throughout my career, I have harmonized people, processes, and systems to positively impact bottom-line performance, and draw on my versatile experience spanning people management, strategy development, and financial planning to meet precise objectives. I apply a people-first approach to navigate through challenging and complex business situations, exceeding expectations by providing the tools and resources to maximize potential and drive operational excellence- I am passionate about helping adult students learn! My teaching career has spanned both university and corporate classrooms, and that regardless of the environment, it is my firm belief that by focusing on very specific adult learning and retention strategies, faculty can become more effective educators and trainers can become more effective learning facilitators. I am highly proficient in determining program/project needs, requirements, implementation strategies and learning initiatives to enhance the learning experience and ultimately improve return on learning outcomes regardless of the platform- My teaching philosophy focuses on adult learning techniques centered on Transformative Learning for adult students as well as PAH (Pedagogy, Andragogy, Heutagogy) Continuum theory and its direct application within the workplace. What this means for adult students is that I focus on theoretical business concepts and their direct application in business and industry. My teaching also extends into five instructional areas;(1) creating a positive learning environment,(2) setting clear expectations, standards and goals, and learning assessment criteria,(3) teaching appropriate subject theory and its application,(4) providing instruction that meets student’s needs, and (5) teaching as a performance art- As an industry researcher, I utilize both qualitative and quantitative methods in determining return on investment of training initiatives- As an instructional designer, I prefer modalities that are simple, effective, and transparent- And finally, as an educational and business writer, I enjoy the transformative process of discovery and review.
