ABOUT WAYNE SHURTS
Over the past 40 years, I’ve worked with leadership teams in food, CPG, distribution, and retail companies to help them modernize how they operate, grow, and compete. I enjoy helping organizations imagine what’s possible, while focusing on turning vision into measurable results.Much of my career has been spent helping organizations navigate change. I’ve served as Chief Information Officer at three public companies and currently serve on public and private company boards. I’m a Boardroom Certified Qualified Technology Expert (QTE) and was inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame in 2017. Along the way, I’ve learned that technology only matters when it moves the business forward-improving performance, and delivering better experiences for customers and employees.I bring to the boardroom a broad operating perspective. In addition to technology, I’ve held senior roles in finance, sales, marketing, supply chain, and shared services. That cross-functional background allows me to contribute meaningfully to enterprise-level strategy, governance, and decision-making.I currently serve on two fiduciary boards:• Armstrong World Industries (NYSE: AWI)—global leader in ceiling solutions; Chair of the Compensation Committee and member of the Audit Committee• Stater Bros. Markets—privately held grocery retailer serving Southern California• Previously, Con-Way Inc, until its acquisition by XPO LogisticsI also serve on family-owned business advisory boards:• MGX Beverage Group, a third-generation alcohol import and distribution company• Jake’s Finer Foods, a third-generation food distribution business, where I served from 2022–25 prior to its acquisition by US FoodsEarlier in my career, I served as EVP & CIO/CTO at Sysco, the global leader in foodservice distribution. There, I led a multi-year transformation that repositioned technology as a business-driven, solutions-oriented function—applying data and analytics at scale, improving operations and customer experience, and strengthening cybersecurity. That work supported a $665M operating income increase over three years (15% CAGR).Prior to Sysco, I served as EVP & CIO at SUPERVALU, then a $38B grocery retailer and distributor, and as Global CIO at Cadbury PLC, supporting operations in more than 60 countries. I began my career at Nabisco, where I spent my first 20 years learning the CPG, food, grocery, and retail business from the ground up—experience that still shapes how I think about customers, margins, and execution today.I hold a BS in Finance from Lehigh University and an MBA from Seton Hall University.
