Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the administrative and financial functions of the Firm that serve the needs of the lawyers at the Firm and its clients in the process of maximizing the profitability and competitiveness of the Firm. Equally important responsibilities of the COO include working with the Management Committee and Board of Directors to lead the Firm\'s strategic planning in order to maximize long-term growth and stability, identify emerging trends applicable to the Firm, proactively identify opportunities/challenges. The COO fulfills responsibilities through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the objectives and the culture of the Firm. General areas of responsibility include: • Evaluate the Firm\'s operations and management reporting to implement changes necessary to guide the Firm through dynamic market environments. • Lead teams in the Firm for Finance, Human Resources, IT, Facilities, Operations, Practice Management and Marketing. • Proactively monitor the financial status and performance of the Firm with an eye towards identifying issues and maximizing the profits of the Firm. • Proactively identify business trends and opportunities applicable to the business of the Firm. • Plan and execute change and effectively in the organization. Build consensus around decisions and communicate with those affected. • Direct the annual budget process and monitor adherence to the budget. • Provide leadership to all aspects of the general and financial operations of the Firm. • Actively involved with all managing committees within the Firm. • Monitor and evaluate all third-party contracts on behalf of the Firm, including all leases, loans, insurance policies and other vendor contracts.
