About Wayne Wallace
I got into healthcare because I love to help people. It is a true privilege to take care of patients. I feel like I have lots of different healthcare experiences in a wide variety of settings. Originally, I studied Psychology and got my Bachelor\'s degree. I got interested in working in a hospital setting. So, I became a Respiratory Therapist in 1985 after being trained at the UCLA Hospital/Santa Monica College program. I worked with all kinds of patients from HIV patients at the beginning of that pandemic to transporting smallest neonates. In the 90\'s, I went to Alaska and worked at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center. During the time, we worked with the community and built a new hospital, implemented an EMR, and worked towards an initial JCAHO accreditation. During this time, I worked on a Master\'s Degree in Business Administration so I could communicate better with non-clinical managers. Came back to California and worked in research including becoming a co-author on paper published in Chest. Presently, I work for Kaiser Permanente as an operational manager. I have worked in the hospital, and many medical subspecialties. I currently manage a stand alone primary care medical office building for KP (I love KP). But, I am retiring now. I am not really looking for work. I don\'t want to consult, teach, make presentations, wear a suit, manage people/departments, or travel. Would only be interested in doing some truly interesting projects using AI or other technologies to greatly reduce healthcare costs. Healthcare is changing. Would want to be a midwife to something truly awesome. If not, I will just enjoy my retirement in peace.
