About Gisele Waters

Honored to Chair of the Standards Association Artificial Intelligence Procurement Working Group. With deep experience in healthcare and education, I am now a passionate leader in standards development of artificial intelligence (AI) and automated decision systems (ADS) governance and socio-technical standards. At Standards Association I am leading the development of a new category of standard. The first volunteer international consensus based global standard for AI procurement. The future standard will establish a process model with general guidance and tools for responsible and civic focused procurement of AI and ADS in the public sector. Our aspiration is to help government agencies ensure due diligence when procuring AI for the public interest. Human-centered design research, policy analysis, data analysis, program evaluation, product and service development, and cross-functional leadership are my top skills. I have also designed and developed four innovation healthcare service lines focused on prevention, health, and remote monitoring for vulnerable seniors in primary care. Lastly, I am a bilingual educator, writer, and editor, with exceptional skills in translating and communicating complex technical, business, and organizational concepts. I have authored and edited publications on AI, blockchain, and genomics, and I am a Review Editor for several journals and editorial boards in the socio-technical domain.
