As part of my MHA final-year internship, I joined the Medical Records Department at Fortis Hospital, Anandapur. This experience provided me with first-hand exposure to core hospital operations and helped me understand the critical role of medical records in patient care, hospital administration, and regulatory compliance.Key Learning Areas: • Handling and organizing inpatient and outpatient medical records • Understanding hospital information systems (HIS) and electronic medical records (EMR) • Exposure to data confidentiality protocols and medico-legal record handling • Learning ICD coding basics and discharge summary review process • Assisting in audits and quality checks of documentationThis internship marks the beginning of my journey in the healthcare management field, and I’m excited to keep learning and growing in this sector.
