About Wasim Pysadee

I am a mechanical engineering student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As an engineering student, I enjoy finding solutions to novel problems. Along with taking traditional mechanical engineering courses such as product \'design and manufacturing\', and \'mechanics and materials\', I have also taken several electronics-based classes. With this complementary mix of classes, I have been able to skillfully incorporate electronics into my many personal/exploratory projects. Most recently, I have been building a direct current (DC) motor using MIT\'s facilities with access to tools such as 3D printers, water jets, and metal laser cutters. After designing and building the first prototype of my motor, I have begun work on a second prototype with the aim of improving it\'s energy efficiency and reducing mechanical losses due to friction. Eventually, I am intending to build my own brushless DC motor with a custom-made motor controller. I am currently the pedal box lead of MIT\'s Formula SAE race team where I design and manufacture the car\'s foot pedals and their mountings. In 2023, I won the Formula Hybrid + Electric virtual racing challenge title for the team. Previously on the team, I designed and 3D printed the electronic dash holder, laser cut tabs, and used the CNC lathe to create aluminum inserts and spacers.> Wood working and sim racing are my favorite pastime activities.> I frequently serve in leadership roles at MIT Cru, an on-campus Christian ministry. This mostly takes the form of leading Bible studies, and setting up of audio-visual equipment.> Summer of 2023 saw me complete an undergraduate research internship at MIT\'s Sloan Automotive Lab. My study focused on the oil consumption of a single piston hydrogen engine. This opportunity has given me valuable research experience and a much deeper understanding of the internal combustion engine.> 2 years of middle school and high school teaching experience.

For the 2024 race season, I am tasked with designing and manufacturing the pedal box for the team\'s FSAE competition car. This post requires me to design and manufacture the car\'s foot pedals along with the respective mounts for brake master cylinders, throttle position sensor, and brake overtravel switch. As the lead, I am to oversee the collaboration with other team members in finalizing a concept that meets the team goals. Following this, I put in place a manufacturing plan that can deliver a product that satisfies our design requirements without delaying the team\'s timeline.
