ABOUT WASEEM ABU-ASHOUR
As a dedicated health outcomes researcher and a public speaker, I’m passionate about leveraging evidence-based research in driving chronic diseases, digital health forward and incorporating AI into healthcare for better, equitable and cost-effective patient outcomes. My professional background is in pharmacy, with a PharmD, complemented by advanced training in epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, health economics, and health outcomes research. My diverse career spans several years as a pharmacist in both hospital and community settings, where I have collaborated with multidisciplinary medical teams across critical care, infectious diseases, nephrology, cardiology, and respirology. My journey also extends into academia, biotechnology, and the public sector, where I have engaged in various research and teaching roles. These experiences have enriched my ability to work alongside a broad spectrum of researchers and clinician scientists on national and international projects and grants. Utilizing my comprehensive healthcare background and robust research training, I actively contribute to health tech start-ups, assisting with funding proposals, ethics applications, feasibility and usability studies, clinical efficacy trials, and health economic evaluations. My goal is to continue fostering innovation in healthcare, driven by a commitment to improve patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency.
