Serving as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Fisher House Michigan (FHM), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting families and caregivers of veterans and service members seeking medical treatment at VA medical centers and military treatment facilities. Fisher House organizations build and support comfort homes where military & veterans\' families can stay free of charge while a loved one is in the hospital. A Fisher House is a first-class \"home away from home\", beautifully designed and well built. Our military heroes deserve nothing less during their time of need. Fisher Houses are not financed by the VA but rather by private citizens and corporate donors, who want to give back for the safety, security, freedom and comfort our military provides. Fisher House Ann Arbor opened in 2020 and has housed nearly individuals; Fisher House Detroit is under construction and expected to open in late 2024. Together, the Ann Arbor and Detroit Fisher Houses will provide 11,680 nights of free lodging annually, saving Veterans and their families over $2.5 million in out-of-pocket costs. FHM holds a Platinum Rating from GuideStar and rated 4 out of 4 Stars by Charity Navigator.
