ABOUT WARREN BERGSTEIN

I am a CPA and Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) who helps individuals and families ensure that important planning decisions are not just discussed but actually completed. Many professionals provide excellent legal, tax, and financial advice. Yet clients are often left with referrals, checklists, and next steps that never fully get carried out. Life gets busy. Complexity builds. Important tasks are postponed. Through my advisory practice, Planning for the Unexpected, I focus on closing the gap between planning and execution. Planning doesn’t fail because of bad advice. It fails when good advice is never acted on.Without a carefully considered and fully executed plan, life events such as the following can upend even the most well-intentioned arrangements:• Birth or adoption• Marriage or remarriage• Purchase of a home or investment property• College and education planning• Divorce• Retirement• Sudden illness or injury• Economic downturn• DeathUnfinished planning can lead to outdated documents, unintended beneficiaries, family confusion, avoidable disputes and even costly litigation. My role is to give you peace of mind by ensuring that important decisions are completed before problems arise. What You Can Expect When We Work Together A hands-on, project-managed approach focused on completion Clear prioritization of planning steps and next actions Coordination with attorneys, accountants, and other professionals A transparent, flat-fee, tiered service model that encourages engagement Guidance through life transitions such as divorce, retirement, incapacity, or family changesMy goal is simple: to help clients achieve stronger, more resilient outcomes by ensuring that their financial, tax, and estate planning is clear, coordinated, and ready for whatever life brings next.In addition to this advisory work, I serve as a Principal at AKM Advisors, a full-service tax and accounting firm where I advise high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and estates on strategies that align tax efficiency, long-term planning, and financial decision-making. Outside of serving clients, my background includes teaching accounting and taxation at Rutgers Business School, Long Island University, New Jersey City University and New York University, as well as a frequent presenter of CPE credits and contributor to leading industry publications such as Marshall Loeb’s Money Guide, Taxation for Accountants, and The CPA Journal.
