ABOUT GARETH WARD MIMECHE
I am a senior engineering and asset management leader with responsibility for the safe, efficient operation of large, complex, and safety-critical assets across maritime and nuclear environments.I currently lead asset management for a global ocean-going fleet, with accountability for >85 vessels, outsourced ship management models, and combined OPEX and CAPEX budgets in excess of £300m per annum. My role spans asset lifecycle strategy, operational risk, capital planning, and governance across multiple jurisdictions.Previously, I have led engineering and technical operations at business-unit scale in both commercial shipping and critical public infrastructure, including responsibility for multi-£m operating budgets, strategic capital programmes, and organisations of ~150 personnel. My background as a Royal Navy nuclear submarine engineer has shaped my approach to leadership: disciplined decision-making, ownership of risk, and clarity under pressure. I am accustomed to operating in environments where failure carries material safety, commercial, and reputational consequences.
