Wan-Yen Lo is a Research Engineering Manager at Facebook AI Research (FAIR), supporting the West Coast Computer Vision Team. Prior to FAIR, she worked on self-driving cars in Waymo and shopping search quality in Google Zürich. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from UC San Diego.

   I lead the research engineering efforts in the West Coast Computer Vision Team at FAIR (Facebook AI Research). We have 20+ research scientists and engineers doing groundbreaking research in the fields of recognition, video, 3D, representation learning, and self-supervised learning. Our joint projects aim for long-term impact at the intersection of these disciplines that shift our fundamental understanding of computer vision and enable entirely new applications. We collaborate closely with academia as well as research and production teams within Meta to bring our latest research to billions of users worldwide. Our focus is to pursue fundamental AI research that advances the frontier of computer vision for the benefit of all. We publish impactful papers such as Mask R-CNN, ResNeXt, MoCo, MAE, Mesh R-CNN, MViT and open-source popular frameworks like Detectron2, PyTorch3D, PyTorchVideo. Our work is widely used in Meta to power various products and applications, e.g, Smart Camera in Portal devices and Facebook MarketPlace.
