As the Security Lead for Hudbay Minerals’ Copper World Project, I am responsible for designing, building, and managing the site’s entire security program from the ground up as it transitions into its active construction and development phases. This includes comprehensive planning, procurement, implementation, and compliance across physical security infrastructure, systems integration, and personnel operations.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Security Program Development- Spearheading the creation and execution of the site’s full-spectrum security architecture in alignment with company policies and international regulations like the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR).Physical Security Infrastructure- Planning, budgeting, and overseeing the installation of guard shacks, access control points, vehicle gates, drop arms, sliding gates, perimeter fencing, and solar overhead lighting systems- Managing all aspects of video surveillance, including procurement and deployment of advanced systems.Threat & Vulnerability Risk Assessments (TVRA)- Leading the creation of a site-specific TVRA by synthesizing frameworks like CARVER, FEMA THIRA, and CISA TVRA with threat intelligence from sources including HSIN, InfraGard, DHS, ODNI, CBP, DEA, NOAA, and the 2025 WEF Global Risk Report- Identifying credible threats (e.g, smuggling, theft, protest activity, cyber-physical convergence), site vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies to support operational resiliency and ESG reporting.Technology Integration & Fleet Oversight- Leveraging platforms like Samsara VG-55 for GPS tracking and maintenance planning of the company’s light vehicle fleet- Ensuring data-driven decision-making through utilization benchmarks, fault code monitoring, and lifecycle tracking.
