As the State Urban Forester for California, my goal is to lead urban forestry programs that provide thriving natural systems for all of California\'s residents. I vow to work collaboratively, administering the Urban Forestry Act, and implementing the Urban and Community Forestry Strategic Plan. Grants, technical assistance, and other resources will be administered to advance urban forestry efforts throughout California communities.The challenges in California are vast, but opportunities are greater. Through a unity of purpose, urban forestry efforts will combat significant global issues such as climate change while providing shade, health, and other benefits to disadvantaged communities and individuals. One tree and one action at a time, the World will change.The Green Schoolyards grant program launched in 2022. Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023 investments totaled $150 million. This unprecedented funding is a down payment on the vast improvements that are needed to provide access to the multitude of benefits of nature on school campuses.
