Citywide Aging Liaison- Architect of Speaker’s aging agenda- Served as primary advisor for Speaker on elder issues- Staffed Speaker at senior events- Drafted briefings, remarks and reports related to senior services for the Speaker- Facilitated budgetary, policy and legislation affecting senior issues citywide- Spearheaded visibility and petition drives for over senior citizens protesting the Administration’s Request For Proposals (RFP’s) cutting of senior services- Performed related constituent-based casework at Speaker’s request Community Outreach Liaison- Disseminated directives and agenda from the Speaker to the 50 Council Members and their staff- Administered Council district offices upon vacancy by Council Member at the behest of the Speaker; supervising staff and continuing constituent services for the residents of that district: CD-40; CD-10; CD-16- Edited, proofed and performed Spanish translations on 100’s of newsletters and literature for the Speaker and Council Members- Coordinated and supervised Council Member cultural events in City Hall and the communities- Fostered dialogue between the New York City Council and community leaders in Manhattan and the Bronx- Supported and strengthened coalitions around Council and Speaker driven legislative proposals Office of Emergency Management Liaison- Coordinated rescue and restoration efforts on behalf of the Speaker and Council during hurricanes: Irene and Sandy, monitoring destruction and overseeing rapid recovery services from city agencies to council districts- Represented the Councils Lower Manhattan participation in the Mayor’s Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency Program
