ABOUT WALEISAH WILSON
Professional, organized, outspoken, compassionate, hard-working, humble and passionate leader and team player.I am the founder and Executive Director of NewLife-Second Chance Outreach, Inc, a GA 501c3 nonprofit that provides employment related direct services to individuals directly impacted by a criminal record. I am a 2020 Soros Justice Fellow, a 2019 leader in Southerners On New Ground\'s Black Leadership cohort \"The Lorde\'s Werq\" and a 2017 JustLeadershipUSA \"Leading with Conviction Fellow. I currently sit on the board of directors of NewLife-Second Chance Outreach, Inc, OAA, Georgia Coalition for Higher Education in Prison (GCHEP), the Multifaith Initiative to End Mass Incarceration (EMI) and Restore Georgia, a new 501c3 that advocates for the changing of Georgia\'s sex offense laws. My objective in life is to be the change that I want to see in my community. I do this by disrupting a system known to be bias, unsympathetic and too often careless in the way it enforces its policies, I\'m an advocate of ALL issues that affect individuals and families who are oppressed economically, socially and criminally particularly those who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. It is my goal to do my part to reform, remove and abolish the bail system, mass incarceration, the school to prison pipeline, the death penalty, sentencing laws laws, stigmas associated with having a criminal record, felony disenfranchisement, voter suppression, disability justice, immigration, policies that discriminate and criminalize Blacks, immigrants, the poor, disabled and those of the LGBTQ community but most importantly to shatter the stigmas associated with having a criminal record. We are people FIRST and if truth be told, when given the tools and opportunity to be successful, we EXCEL!
