About Wajih Umar Syed

I am working on physiology-guided mathematical models in conjunction with AI and ML models for clinical monitoring and tracking of diseases including hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring and critical care early warning systems.Some examples of my previous work include machine learning and data analytics for health and disease monitoring using EMR data, blood gas analysis using PPG signal processing, and AI-based cardiovascular disease prediction using ECG waveforms. My current work includes novel Transformers-based prediction models on mixed signals with sparse and dense data. Previously, I have worked extensively on device design and multiphysics modeling of various MEMS devices including energy harvesters and IMUs. I have a strong background in electrical engineering, especially in signal processing, communication systems, computer vision, machine learning, algorithms, probability, estimation, mathematical modeling, and dynamical systems.
