As an intern with the Steinberg Institute, a leading nonprofit public policy institute focused on advancing mental health policy and awareness in California, I contributed to legislative and community-based initiatives aimed at improving access to mental health services. My role included:Conducting policy research and preparing briefing materials on state and national mental health legislation.Supporting advocacy campaigns by drafting communications, fact sheets, and policy summaries for stakeholders and decision-makers.Attending legislative hearings, community meetings, and stakeholder briefings to monitor developments in mental health policy.Assisting with outreach and engagement efforts, including event planning and coordination with partner organizations.Collaborating with staff on projects aimed at reducing stigma and expanding access to quality mental health care.
